good strip, 6/10 (Not a high number, but, remember, I’m rating this on the Smythe scale, not the Goldsmith & Garnett scale, where this strip would be an 8)

    Left over from yesterday:

redo, as always. I’m assuming that “Nasty Bank” is from “National Bank” or am I way off here?^^Nasty Bank means exactly what it says… the idea is that banks always promote themselves as the friendly bank, always willing to help, when we all know that they are nasty, greedy companies, who’s only object is to make their stockholders rich; so, this is an honest bank!

Here in Ecuador, our currency is based on the American dollar. While some of the old small coinage ( centavos ) matching the .05, .10, .25, and .50 American coins are still in circulation, paper money is all American greenbacks with $5,$10, and $20 bills the most popular ( $50 & $100 bills are rare and hard to cash ). We don’t use the $1 bill but rather the American $1 coins. Why they don’t eliminate the $1 bill in the States is beyond me.

A testimony to true friendship is…

A man brings his best buddy home for dinner unannounced at 5:30 after work. His wife begins screaming at him and his friend just sits and listens in. “My hair & makeup are not done, the house is a mess, the dishes are not done, I’m still in my pajamas and I can’t be bothered with cooking tonight! What the hell did you bring him home for?”

“Because he’s thinking of getting married.”

Andy could improve things considerable if he would bring home a new painting for the couch……..It’s been said that people get the governments they deserve. Do they also tend to get the spouses they deserve?

“Who would she be carrying the second tankard for ???”~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Perhaps a secret affair? I think not — she’s too smart to fall for that again. More likely for a friend with an equally annoying husband.

I would know more about Esther if I was on the ‘book’. Sheilah is one of those Double AA gal on the go personalities and saves time by dumping her information there for all the people to see to save on doing all the individual contacting. -The bleedin’ car park was stuffed ! After getting all the way to the seventh level we found our space all the way back down on the ground floor. -We have places where you can drive with nary another soul on the road and then places like Chicago, Dallas, New York (city), Los Angeles and others where you take your life in your hands. Make sure those cars you are driving in your dreams are Cadillacs. The Cds came yesterday. The sound quality is better than listening to them online.-I’ve known Ed going on about 33 years. He was a sort of Captain Beefheart of the manufacturing business. He’s had plenty of weirdos and oddballs (me too ) through there over the years and did some pretty demanding design work for some of the jobs. He held to a high standard and is the only shop of his kind where fumes and smoke are generated during manufacture, that insisted on washing walls and ceilings and thus present a good image than to “look like a coalmine”- his words. The white walls reflected light real good too which helps when doing precision work.-I trust “Mum” is good company as well as ‘looking out for her baby’. -I’m glad I could be here for your birthday. -Hump day is coming !________________________________________________I don’t share much of my real life on GoComics. I mention my cousins and my Mum & Dad every so often but that’s it. Other people can go ahead but I’m looking to keep my real life and my GoComics life poles apart.-I’m glad you found a parking space in the end. Cadillacs and Ferraris are amazing cars. Very flash and glam!-What CDs did you get?-I can’t think of anyone who ISN’T an ‘oddball’ or a ‘weirdo’ these days. There are quite a few weirdos on GoComics (without mentioning any usernames) who’s comments I just prefer to scroll past. Nothing they say will interest me. -33 years is a very long time to know somebody. Do you and Ed have much in common? -Ed must be pretty intelligent if he had his own business. -May your Wednesday be wonderful.

A pocketful of metal would cause you to list one side or the other. Why Doesn’t Ecuador do its own currency ? Says something about the place, doan-it !

.Not to mention the problem of trying to stuff a $1.00 coin in the waistband of a sweet young thing at the local Gentleman’s Club.

Somebody on AC, maybe Six or Picoli, sent me this a while back.-———————————————————————————- Prior to decimalization in 1971 Britain used a system of pounds, shillings and pence. (‘£sd’ or ‘LSD’). The smallest unit of currency was a penny, the plural of which was pence (or pennies). There were 12 pence in a shilling and 20 shillings in a pound. The pound came in the form of a paper bill called a note, or a gold coin, called a sovereign.

1 farthing (the lowest value coin) = 1/4 pennyA ha’penny (Half penny – a copper coin) = 1/2 penny (pronounced “heipni”)1 penny (a copper coin) = one of the basic units (1d)Threepence or Thruppenny Bit = 3 pence (pronounced “thrupence”)Sixpence (a silver coin also called a ‘tanner’) = 6 pence1 shilling = 12 pence (1s)1 florin (a silver coin that numismatists regard as one of the most beautiful medieval English coins) = 2 shillingsA half-crown = 2 shillings and 6 pence1 crown = 5 shillings = 1/4 pound1 pound = 20 shillings = 240 pence (£1)1 sovereign = a gold coin with a face value of one pound (about .24 ounces of 22 carat gold)

A “bob” is slang for a shilling and “quid” for a pound.

My late wife, who was from Scotland, had a tongue-in-cheek unit of currency called a “Fourpneybit”. She had a good sense of humour. I miss her.

“Vise grip” we would call it a mole wrench……. don’t ask me why..I have been trying to get rid of my zircon encrustment for years. A constant application of industrial cleanser helps but there’s no substitute for coarse sandpaper.

Speaking of currency: I use very little of it. Almost all my transactions are by plastic – credit/debit cards. Since I started using online banking I almost never write paper checks anymore or mail bills. I usually carry a few dollar bills for street beggars, which unfortunately we still have some of.
