Uh oh! Dust on the floor is about as telling as a chalk drawing! Hopefully the Topsiders aren’t still there. D:

They’ve been shot, and there were no little rats with vacuum cleaners to clear up the mess.Or there’s an Amesworth radiation leak, in which case Wally should check his badge.They could have been humans or mutants. Look for any piles of dust that are duck- or squirrel-shaped.

Its quite possible they turned on one another.Theres been plenty of clues that food has been running out, plus the constant stress of worrying about topsiders finding them.Add the normal tendency of humans and mutants derived of humans to engage in dominance hierarchy struggles, and limited and confined space in which to live…And you have a lot of potential for things to go very wrong.Could have been topsiders too.But I’m betting its more likely mass cabin fever rage.

Could it be…?Could it be that Albion West went through an internal political crisis, where infighting for the top job went unchecked due to disinterest and complacency in the common inhabitants? And did it lead to factionalism, partisan warfare and complete obliteration?I believe this is what Aaron Marx saw in Albion West, and what he and the Oracle foresaw would happen to Endtown too. Marx came to the pained conclusion that the only way to save Endtown from destroying itself was to slap the people into a state of political interest, however painful and inefficient that may be. It was unjust, many people paid the price, much sadness resulted, and it would seem strange to foster political polarisation as a way of creating stability. But surely Jacob Jackrabbit, as the elected leader, will show his true colours: he may gradually mould himself into a strong and resolute chief, or he may be revealed to be a lying, cheating despot and onverthrown. Either way, after a bumpy start, Endtown will have a more participatory governance. Thereafter, people will be more attuned to throwing out a government if it starts to stink. I think that’s what Marx had in mind when he engineered the coup d’etat. I think the fate of Albion West is exactly the thing that made him choose to do what he did. He foresaw Endtown’s end.

Haven’t previous victims of zero gun shots just ended up a plain heap of dust rather than as body-shaped piles?If so, then this may be a fake scene set up to frighten off wanderers looking for a handout.

Funny if we find another “Milk Three” incident happened here, with another tinpot savior leading this colony to ruin. Note the human shaped dust-piles. Either a sign of Tops or the end result of revolution.

Since the bodies were “dusted”, it had to be topsiders. BUT… the fact that the piles are body-shaped implies they were shot as they lay on the ground. Why “dust” corpses? Very curious…. ;-)

Puts me in mind of the first episode of Red Dwarf.

How about Disease X?Remember Wally’s past story from Teacher at the hospital.Disease X caused two types of death.One was desiccation like a mummy.The other was turning into a pile of dust laying on the bed.From what I could tell a hit from the Zero gun did not leave a perfect pile of dust…….however disease X did.

It’s probably come up before, but…if Wally’s going to go walking around where these powdered cremains are on the floor, he might want to reconsider some kind of footwear…

What comes first with a Zero Bomb, concussion or radiation? Could concussion have knocked down these man shaped piles of dust before the radiation dessicated them? Or even a bomb first sucking in all the air to feed the explosion. JusAskin

Some fresh air could have leaked in from the surface and out from the doorframe and window in Panel 1. Something consumes all the oxygen to burn, and what little air that can come from TopSide or a tightly sealed house burns as soon as it gets in.JusGuessin

Do the arms look a little short for an unmutated human? Sure, one pile could be holding his stomach before he turned to ash, but the lower ashes would have very short arms for a human, and is probably a mutant. At least one of the piles looks non-TopSidery. Even the one that could look human-ish could have been a Typhoid Mary. JusKickinRocks
