Our boy kitty once jumped up on the table whilst we were dinning by candlelight, and happened to swish his tail through the flame. Itself-extinguished immediateky, but gawd, did it STINK!

Life can be so easy!

That may be one of the most valuable teddys in the world.

Enjoy the absence of serious responsibilities as well as the ability to truly indulge in wholehearted idleness while you can, kid. The busy years will coming rushing by soon enough, and there’s no getting off THAT particular train.

We called it “ironing the carpet” growing up—ahh, good times.

Makes you envious of their simple joy.

Just add some splashing in the rain puddles and basking in the sun……….and life if PERFECT!

As intimately wonderful as today’s strip is, I believe that panels 6 and 8 were switched.

It’s a shame that the youth of today could never understand the message in this strip. They’re too busy with video games and TV. In late 1940’s, inner city Chicago, the streets were crawling with children occupying their time with imaginative games and activities. Remember Kick The Can? Frozen Tag? Relievio (Red Rover, Red Rover)? Hide And Go Seek? I’m afraid for our future.

That’s the way to live!

Well now we get surreal. We’ve now entered a period of nine months of reruns. Only this time, they’re reruns OF reruns. Watterson went on the second of his two sabbaticals starting this Sunday twenty years ago.

So for the next nine months, we’ll be reading 2014 reruns of 1994 reruns of 1990 strips.
