I remember an episode of “Star Trek: TNG” in which an alien referred to humans as “ugly bags of mostly water.”

Yes, and if I recall, the impression to me anyway was that the organisms (Picard and some of the crew) weren’t certain what the growing light in the forcefield containment meant until Data explained it.It seemed like there were a few times in the later ST shows that the writers/producers didn’t give the audience credit to be able to figure something out.

To err is human. To really foul things up takes the help of a computer.

How rude! It could at least wait until he’s made his move!

I’ve got Battle Chess and Battle Chess 4000 on my computer – they’re fun to play even if the computer DOES beat me.

I’m afraid the computer always beats me at chess. I used to be good at chess, but didn’t play for years, tried to take it up against the computer, and I gave that up years ago.

I used to have a computer chess game (bear in mind this was on my Apple IIc ,so a good 25 years ago now…) that I literally could never beat.

Not that I wasn’t able to win, it just refused to admit it. I could take the king, and it would sit there “Thinking… Thinking… Thinking… Thinking…” about its next move until I gave up waiting and conceded.
