Beni: Alice is right! The stain in this sink looks like a monkey! Dill: Or a llama. Beni: Are we then to deduce that Miss Bliss has been washing monkeys in this sink? Dill: Or llamas? Miss Bliss: Children, we don't all need to be in the bathroom. Come out, please. Beni: Spoken like a woman who's been washing monkeys in the sink. Dill: Or llamas.

Why is Alice in the bathroom with the boys? Does this mean the character is actually a little boy who has been given what is usually a girl’s name?

Yeah, she’s obviously hiding something.

Dill is short. There is no evidence he has been on the little riser in front of the sink (though perhaps he has in the past). So “llamas” is just speculation. He probably heard about llamas and finds the name interesting.Alice is our leading theorist, but Beni is the man of action. And what has Miss Bliss really been up to?

The only reason Miss Bliss hasn’t gone mad must be that she had to be mad to start with, to work with a bunch of such kids. :)
