Man: Dude! The register locked up! I don't know how much change to give back! Eno: I gave you a five. The coffee is ninety cents. I get four dollars and a dime back. Man: Wo! Slow down, math guy! Eno: Great! The teletubbies generation has joined the work force. Man: How many quarters in a dime?

And I have to rely on this kid for my Social Security income? But wait! We can tax 90% of his gross and he’d never notice!

How true this today’s strip is. Most cashiers don’t know how to make change. They got to read it on the register.

Most younger people don’t know how to count to ten without a calculator.

It used to be standard practice to count back your change. Now they stuff it in your hand and you have to count it to be sure they gave you the correct amount back. The more technology improves the more stupid we become.

Sign of the times for sure. Not sure why I’m laughing my head off.

I find that when I count change back to people, a lot of them look confused, especially the younger ones.

I’m one of those weirdos that always tries to get my change in round numbers ESPECIALLY if I get quarters back (for parking meters). So it’s always fun to give some kid $5.10 for a $3.60 thing and watch them: 1) stare at it 2) try to give me the dime back 3) stare at it again 4) try to do the math after I say I want the quarters. 5) stare at it yet again 6) make the change after I tell them EXACTLY what it should be
I think it’s the same phenomena that prevents people from understanding the metric system.

Us old people that didn’t learn “New Math” will be making out like bandits in the future when all them young whipper-snappers are trying to make change. Too bad everything is credit card transactions now!
