In the hands of Ms. Phelps, tea is supposed to seem dullā€¦ in the hands of Capt. Picard , itā€™s the ā€œquick swish of Gatoradeā€ before itā€™s time to ā€œEngage!ā€ ā€¦.ā€“ So, for all those saying that she was ā€œhornswoggledā€ or ā€œguiltedā€ into doing it, this shows that it really was of her own accord ā€¦. Itā€™s just that sheā€™s got her own reason for doing itā€¦ ā€“ To a young teen, the appearance of a thing is crucial to itā€™s perception, and itā€™s ā€œsuccessā€ or ā€œexcitiement, attractivenessā€.. To Ms. Phelps (and some others), Oneā€™s success, or contentment in life isnā€™t dependent upon what other people perceive you asā€¦.. quite handy, for her secret life as a ā€œcrime-fighting superheroineā€ and as the ā€œLove Museā€ to Mr. Fogarty!ā€¦.. ā€“ But itā€™s no exaggeration that she really is sharing a mutual attraction for Mr. Fogartyā€¦. They donā€™t let on about it, and they seem to enjoy it very much!ā€¦

IAJB: I wish Greg would get Ms. Phelps together with Mr. Fogarty againā€¦ That would be a great teaching moment for Bernice or any teenager: friendship is not dependent on age; it does depend on oneā€™s good feelings for the other and vise versaā€¦ ;)

Forty-five years ago I took my girl to my prom and her prom (two different schools). I remember the girl, the bands that played at both proms and what we did after prom for the week ends. We went our separate ways after graduation but no regrets. Iā€™m now 62, a grand father and still with my wife after 39 years. But oh, the memories are still there.

Actually, tea can really be comfortingā€¦depends on which flavor you like. Personally, I like to drink some English Blend tea while the weather outside ā€œis frightful.ā€ We have a propane barbeque outside, and if we lose the electricity, we use that to make hot drinks. Cocoa is great, too! Now, Ms. Phelps, live a little and try a ā€œhot toddyā€ā€¦ ;)

Bernice, the prom isnā€™t until April. How do you know someone wonā€™t ask you? Luann and Rosa have dates already because they have boyfriends, but not everyone has a boyfriend or girlfriend even in high school.

Also, canā€™t girls ask boys to the prom? It wasnā€™t done in my day, but Iā€™d have thought things would have changed by now.

Nothing wrong with doing volunteer work either, but she obviously wants to go to the prom, and it seems early for her to give up on going.

While weā€™re still on the subject of tea, my mall here is getting a tea place called Teavana, where they have many different flavors of tea. And right next to it will be the Nestle Tollhouse Cafe, where it will be movingā€”for the SECOND time. Sigh. . . But, cookies and teaā€”the perfect combination, donā€™t you think?

Ah SO. The REAL Reason Bernieā€™s NOT Going to the Prom!

And its NOT because She Wants to Feed the Needy out of the Sheer ā€œGoodnessā€ of Her Heart. BAH!

ASK Your Self WHY No Oneā€™s Asked YOU to the Prom, Bernski.

Couldnā€™t Find Anybody There that was Your ā€œTYPE,ā€ or Something?

Never Got Over that ā€œZane Guy,ā€ Huh?

This previous strip with Phelps & Fogarty indicates that older single adults can have some sort of sex drive. However, teenagers consider that type of ā€œbeing hornyā€ to be ā€œboring.ā€ We live in a strange universeā€¦

Speaking as a teaholic, I donā€™t find it a dull thing. Tea gives out a ā€œtimed-releaseā€ of caffeine where coffee bombs my nerves in a mass attack.Dull? Probably people do find me thus but I enjoy life without the need for excitement all the time.

Personally, I like to start the morning with a few cups of Irish breakfast tea and then switch to Scottish breakfast tea (a malty, slightly smokey tea) for most of the rest of the workday, and then finish off the afternoon and the evening with the really smokey tea, Lapsang Souchong. Thatā€™s neither here not there for Bernice, however, since now that she know that Phelps is a tea drinker, she resolves from now on to drink only coffee. And Scotch.
