Luann by Greg Evans and Karen Evans for March 16, 2014
Transcript:
Dad: "Do you know there's till Christmas glitter all over the house?" Dad: "That evil stuff breeds ad migrates! If it would stay on the ornaments and cards, fine! But it's like the glue doesn't work and the glitter just falls off!" Dad: "Glitter used to be flakes that you could vacuum. Now it's microscopic dust that permeates everything - furniture, carpet, clothes, even the pores on my skin!" Dad: "I HATE glitter! Glitter is litter!!" Mom: "Dad has glittophobia" Luann: "Guess I shouldn't mention my new eye shadow and body cream"

I am now a glitterphobe myself, ever since one of my exes forced me to watch Twilight.

Maybe itâs just Frankâs old skin flaking off.

I had a friend who would put tons of glitter and confetti in everything sheâd mail. Hopefully sheâs outgrown that by now, although?? She was still doing it well into her 60âs. Sad really.

Wow! They really want it on the new calendars, too? I seriously would have not thought that was a request (to put it on calendars)⊠thatâs a true âGlitterholicâ, Lol!âŠ

The reason I hate âglitterâ is because, during childhood, I was eating candy while handling a Christmas card. Some got into my mouth; even after I spit it all out, it felt like it was still there!

I hope Mondayâs installment continues with Rosa explaining to Luann what âPlan Câ involves. As I stated a couple of days ago, Rosa may decide that her future does not have to involve either Yale or Gunther. Like I had said, she may leave town after Graduation Day without saying good-bye to anyone.
melmarsh9v almost 11 years ago
Also, to clarify what I mentioned previouslyâ Rosa never actually said that she wanted to start at the top. That was just speculation upon my part, in response to the reader who wondered why she wasnât considering a strategy where she would attend a local college while participating in community social causes. Maybe that plan would not seem to be as grandiose as joining the Peace Corps. But then, maybe âPlan Câ is such a strategy!

Okay, I see- the âOoooooh! Shiny!â approach⊠Like a lot of fluff and commercials on TVâŠ. Next thing you know, thereâll be the saying âLike putting glitter on a pigâ!⊠â Iâm sure the âApple Zombiesâ will want a phone like that next, and not just an add on protective coverâŠ.

This is straight from Gregâs âLuannâ page on Facebook:
" Hereâs a unique treat for FB fans. For the first time, Greg is sharing an alternate ending to a story line. Take a look at this second ending to the âLocked In the Closetâ strips of last week and tell us what you think."
Click here to see the alternate strip and itâs endingâŠ..

The older readers here will probably recall how the Peace Corps used to run ads on TV during the 1960s. Do they do that anymore? Until recently, I was under the assumption that some previous administration had abolished the Peace Corps. But, in the last 15-20 years, I have quit watching television and have become extremely apathetic about political issuesâŠ

Luann is sounding suspiciously like sheâs guilty of glitter litter with her shiny new makeupâŠ.

Thanks! For some reason, I couldnât get the picture to postâŠ.
melmarsh9v almost 11 years ago
I was thinking how it would be fun to have a site where the âLuann Pollâ could keep statistics of answers to questions such as; âwhich characters will be written out in the coming months?â Also, things like multiple-choice items about possible scenarios involving âThe Prom, The Wedding, College, etc.â might intrigue the fans.
JayBluE almost 11 years ago
A lot of people commented there that it was a better ending (I thought so, too!)âŠ.â An âironically calm transition endingâ as a clever twistâŠ..

Itâs like herpes. Gets everywhere and you canât get rid of it completely.
Angelalex242 almost 11 years ago
Yeah, I like that ending better too. Less diabolous ex machine then the real ending. Brad looks quite content, smug even, with an arm around Toni and another around Shannon.
With a very âfamilyâ vibe to it. Shannon looks equally content, snoozing away in Bradâs arm like she belongs there.

It is great to be able to look up the older strips from past years. The first ones I saw (when the Star-Tribune began carrying it) were from a story about a school fashion show, shortly before Aaron Hill got into a car crash. But, in those early years, I did not read it all the time, so there are many that Iâve seen here that I either donât remember, or had not read at all. Itâs mainly in the last five years or so that I have developed a (hopefully harmless) obsession with the characters, as well as the plots. This has become one of those comics to look forward to every day.
Angelalex242 almost 11 years ago
The only question I have left is how (or why) Shannon will be adopted. Will Toniâs deadbeat brother Jonah get run over by a car, a truck, a reindeer, or other mode of transportation? Will he just leave town and forget to mention where?
Only time will tell what Jonahâs mostly irrelevant fate will be.
melmarsh9v almost 11 years ago
Maybe some âLuannâ trivia experts can help me out on this. Obviously, this strip contains innuendo about the sex urges of Luann and friends, as well as Brad & Toni. My question is whether anything about the erotic life of Frank & Nancy has been suggested. I keep thinking that I recall something in the past, but I just canât remember what it was.
melmarsh9v almost 11 years ago
Recently, I read that Greg and Karen Evans have plotted out storylines for the next year. Specifically, they gave the vague hint that Brad & Toniâs Wedding will have âtrauma and drama.â Could we surmise the trauma might involve something happening to Jonah? Might the drama be something having to do with Dirk? So many questionsâ we will have to wait for the answersâŠ
melmarsh9v almost 11 years ago
Hereâs a topic that would make for an interesting question in a poll of the readers: Who is most likely to get pregnant on Prom Night? The choice of answers would be between Luann, Bernice, Rosa, Crystal, Tiffany or Delta, with âallâ or ânoneâ from which to pick. Iâm sure whichever one Iâd choose would be another failed prediction. However, I know there are readers with definite opinions on the subject!

IN 1987, scavengers broke open a radiation-therapy machine in an abandoned clinic in GoiĂąnia, Brazil. They sold the kilocurie caesium-137 source as a glowing curiosity, in the dark, anyway. In daylight, the radioisotope powder looked like the most amazing glitter. Two hundred and fifty persons were contaminated; four died, one of them a woman who applied the âglitterâ as makeup.

Glitter body cream? Did Luann get a job as a stripper?
melmarsh9v almost 11 years ago
Very true, but I was referring to Frank & Nancyâs situation at middle-age.

No, itâs the Easter plastic grass that stays with you forever. I havenât bought it in twenty years and a strand will still occasionally pop up in the house.

I think its time for a new refrigerator. I donât think a dorm size fridge will cut it!
JayBluE almost 11 years ago
Thatâs easy!âŠâŠ with the adaptation of a handy device, and these simple test steps.
1.Clap on.2.Clap off.3.Clap on.4 Clap off.â Repeat steps 1-4. If these still work, then your adaptation installment was successful.
You can now pronounce the device: âThe Clapper. For The Refrigerator.â
Hand thawing device to enable subsequently successful claps and still be able to tell the Jelloâą from the Lime Green Kool Aidâą must now be installed, next.

âGlitter eye shadow I know, but body wash? Makes my skin crawl and itch just thinking about it.â
I have some glitter body lotion. I like it, itâs actually very subtle and thereâs no glitter litter because it sticks really well. You canât feel the glitter, it just looks really nice. (I am not a stripper.)
