Zonker has pretty much wasted his life so far in good part due to apathy induced by his mellow

@DOSQueen (From yesterday)Making drugs illegal has not kept drugs off the streets but it has increased violence of all kinds as drug lords fight law enforcement to keep the supply flowing.It has resulted in a militarization of law enforcement and an increase in police brutality.It has caused an increased indifference for the bill of rights and the constitution.

One major cost that I have never seen accounted for is all the thefts and burglaries committed by addicts to finance their habit. Most of these costs are borne by regular people without any recourse as they are too small for the police to be bothered with or the insurance policies to cover.

And with legalization you eliminate the all pushers constantly trying to create new “customers” from children.

@DavidHuieGreenThose who have problems with how I choose to live are not in my audience; those in my audience have no problems with my choices. People are successful if they are what they want to be. In the first 20 years of my life, my success was determined by others. Afterwards, I decided to have more of a say in it and listened less to others whose main interest in me was controlling and dominating me.

as if this type of high is not “natural”, lol. Wasting one’s life is a purely subjective valuation. in today’s America, Zonker is a complete and utter failure. then again, today’s America is a complete and utter failure, about to destroy the ecological systems required for human life as well as every other part of the web of life. so throwing stones at Zonker is relative.such value judgements depend on your point of view/value system.

Zonker’s “life” is a failure or success depends on who does the judging and what are the values. it is obvious Zonker appears incapable of communicating when he is stoned, according to the cartoon.

I@Beleck3, I think you mean Zipper is incapable of communicating when stoned; Zonker seems to have had little trouble over the years with his coherence level. Happens in real life too. One person just gets a great buzz, another goes entirely loopy from the same dose.

Pot makes you act like Cheech and Chong. I get it already. Just wait till he gets hungry and eats all the cookies or something. That’ll be zany.

My response to those who judge me….“…because I was put upon this earth for your approval?”

I can’t see that Zonker has completely wasted his life up to now. As I recall, he was a nanny to Alex, then Sam, and they have both turned out ok. Also, we do need fast-food workers, as at McFriendly’s. Maybe Zonker didn’t want to be a high-level worker.

A few weeks ago there was an article in the news about a homeless man turning in the thousands of dollars that he had found. He could have kept it but it would have interfered with his success, of which honesty and integrity are a part. Try finding those values in the corporate/politico types.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t bode well for the next generation if they can’t spend a few bored minutes without a hit, a text, a video game, a FB update. Zipper knew he had a job to do and couldn’t be bothered to be in possession of his faculties for a few more minutes.

Had The Greatest Generation followed these lines of thought, we’d be speaking Japanese and German.
