So how does a male bee/wasp defend himself?

Female mosquitoes bite (not sting) because they need extra protein for their eggs. Only female bees and wasps can sting, because the stinger is an ovipositor, which males don’t have. Some ants sting; some ants bite. I don’t know if any species of ant does both.

Sir Basil Rathbone was also an accomplished fencer. It must have been galling to be made to lose to Errol Flynn in Captain Blood & The Adventures of Robin Hood.

Male bees are too busy chillin’ back at the hive, driking a cold honey ale, and arent’ out looking to start a fight. :)

So THAT explains why Hemlock Stones was disguised in a tree suit on the docks in the Firesign Theatre album, “The Tale of the Giant Rat of Sumatra” (a spoof of Sherlock Holmes stories).

White blood cells cause Flu? Really? Flu is a virus and White blood cells assist in fighting the Flu. I guess I will not believe it.

It was extremely courageous to scout behind enemy lines dressed as a tree, but I can’t help laughing. I keep thinking of Charlie Chaplin doing the same thing, though I can’t remember the name of the film.

It wasn’t too galling to Basil Rathbone, from all the accounts I’ve read, he was paid extra to teach said actors how to fence. Also, do you give a chicken a bowl of chicken soup when she as the flu?

Actually, White Blood Cells do not cause the symptoms of the Flu and chicken soup doesn’t affect the Flu virus directly. Chicken soup (must be made with the whole chicken to be effective) imparts its beneficent qualities to the Flu sufferer by providing a boost to the immune system.

The stingers on bees are only a few 64th of an inch long.(The other 1-1/2 inches is pure imagination!)

Before I read the caption about Basil Rathbone I thought the picture was of Jamie Farr from “M*A*S*H.”

Formic acid got its name when it was discovered that it was the active ingredient in ant venom.

I think I read somewhere that at one time to obtain Formic Acid, red ants were distilled!Rough on the ants!
