I think this is the first time we’ve seen the lemmings interact with the other characters in the strip.

This is so unrealistic! Not about lemming leaping of a cliff, but I can’t believe that Rat would ever loan somebody money.

Now that’s a bad debt! —And a good Old School lesson for Rat to learn: neither a borrower nor a lender be!

And good luck getting life insurance if you’re a lemming!

Lemmings don’t really commit suicide. That was made up by Disney to sell tickets to a “nature film”

Lemmings never used to do that, but Disney got them to jump, so now they collect royalties and are kind of obligated to keep jumping. It’s not really a great job, but there’s little other work for lemmings. (They’re not too bright.)

Hard to believe that a lemming could even start a checking account . . . ☻

I wonder if Stephen counts how many people bring up the Disney thing in the comments when he does the lemming bit. We’re up to 2 in this one.

Most likely a doctor’s bill. Lemmings want to be in good shape when they jump off the cliff.

When I broke the news to my students that one of their classmates had died, one kid said…and I quote…“He owes me 4 bucks!” Yup, he sure made out….

You just perfectly described the typical Obummer voter, the low-information voter.

Hey everybody! Did you know that lemmings don’t really…er, never mind.

Reminds me of a comment the author made in one of the Pearls Treasury books. A strip showed a killer whale on land, crammed into a tiny car, going up to a fast food drive through and (speaking English) trying to order some krill. Pastis said that the unrealistic element most commented on by readers was that killer whales don’t eat krill.

If lemmings can speak English and owe money to talking rats, then they can commit suicide in groups.

Bob should have pushed Rat off the cliff. Wouldn’t be the first time Rat died and then “undied.”
