Alex: Hey, Gram, what would you think of my giving you a fresh 'do for your new job? Joanie: My, you're quite the little makeover queen today, aren't you? Alex: Whoa... Gram. Joanie: What? Alex: Way to rock the snark, but so not you. Joanie: Sorry. Long day.

If you don’t want reruns, don’t read this one except on Sundays in the forseeable future.
Me, I’m looking forward to looking back to the early days.

This arc, while brief, actually points to one of the MAJOR problems in Washington TODAY: the place is run by clueless young people who mistake being bright for knowing anything, and who have no perspective.
Since history repeats itself, GT (or someone) has the opportunity to be just as topical as usual, if they approach the task of choosing from past strips in this light.

oh please, to have to live through any of Reagan would be truly to those of us who survived. the evil Reagan did is still festering today. not like we need any reminders

I remember thinking at the time, only 9 words from Alex, but containing a world of meaning.

Making fun of dead people isn’t as much fun as it sounds, especielly when politicians of both major parties keep citing him for words of wisdom and guidance.

Not of this strip. I get the feeling that most of us are probably the age Reagan was when he became president (and wish we could forget!). :-)
montessoriteacher almost 11 years ago
Reagan was 69 when he became prez. I am quite a few birthdays shy of that number, but I remember Ronnie very well.

I am hope everyone is doing ok in terms of the crappy weather we are having. I noticed there was no Daily Show or Colbert Report last night. Could that have been weather-related? I heard there was a big controversy over NYC having school yesterday, which seemed ridiculous, given what they are going through. I have heard the argument that poor kids need their free meals, but I am not sure it is worth it to spend hours and hours just to get to and from school and jeopardizing their lives to get to and from school.
luvdafuneez almost 11 years ago
True, that. Ain’t it grand?!
bobdingus almost 11 years ago
Probably never, except on Sundays. Trudeau has announced that there will be no new weekday strips in the foreseeable future.
luvdafuneez almost 11 years ago
No, they never did – my guess is they’ll find Jimmy Hoffa first…

Oops. I guess I just “outed” myself for my politics: it’s “a pox on both your houses.”
(Just like my cousin who used to be a highly-paid political consultant in DC. Eventually, he decided he shouldn’t be taking money for ruining the country, no matter how much, and left it to others to do that.)

“Rock the snark” is a good name for a band. (Dave Barry, call me!)

She is so, so bitter. ARe all people who work for Warren like that??
kaffekup almost 11 years ago
No, of course not, it’s a comic strip. On the other hand, most republican officeholders do seem to be that bitter. And angry.
