Transcript:
Student: The wind blew my hat into a pickup truck and it kept driving away! Miss Plainwell: It's all right, sweetie. It's okay. Student: Okay? It was awesome! Miss Plainwell: Guessed wrong again. Frazz: That's meltdown roulette. If you're still playing, you're winning.

There’s always next period, Miss Plainwell.

Miss Plainwell “won” at “meltdown roulette” because she was ready for meltdown from the student but didn’t get one — so she’s still playing. Just like a win at Russion roulette is no bullet, so you can still play. You never know how an elementary school student will react to some situations.

My husband almost had a meltdown at the beach, we were snorkeling and a wave hit him just as he took off his mask. The mask went into the ocean. His deceased father had given him that mask 30 years ago. I was able to find it, but it was a close one.

Gee, would any of us have thought that such an event was “awesome,” at any age?
