Jim McKay, Keith Jackson, Vin Scully, and Howard Cossell. If Canadian, Foster Hewitt, Danny Gallivan, Red Foster, Ernie Afaganis.

Sarah413, I think you pretty much nailed it, although I might replace Jim McKay with Al Michaels…tough call. As for the Canadian Rushmore, I certainly recognize Hewitt and Gallivan but not the other two. No Don Cherry? “Hockey Night in Canada” wouldn’t be complete without Grapes ranting about the Europeans (“…You know, Ron, we didn’t used to NEED helmets before those dirty stickworkers like Ulfie Samuelsson came over here…”) between periods.

Jim McKay, Al Michaels, Dan Dierdorf, and Bob Costas. (What’s all the hating of Costas, anyway? I’ve liked him so long I even used to watch his talk show way back when!)

As long as Jack Buck, his idiot son Joe & Curt Gowdy aren’t up there, I’ll be very happy.I still remember Gowdy having an on air conniption fit over the lack of ice rinks in this country. He wanted the government to build more.Back in the 1960s, there was just one indoor rink in the entire Chicago area, but at least a dozen around LA. All privately owned.

While I can’t for the life of me remember their names, I used to listen to them call the Detroit Tigers nite games. Mostly because that was the radio selection of the majority where I worked.(lots of Tigers fans) This would have been back when Sparky Anderson was the coach. While I am not really a baseball fan, and stopped listening when they retired, In my mind they were 2 of the very best as far as play calling and color commentator on the radio goes.

One of the great baseball broadcasters is Denny Mathews of the Royals, but he would only belong on a local Mount Rushmore. (He is in the Baseball of Fame, though!)

Vin Scully, Jim McKay, Keith Jackson, and Dizzy Dean. I like Don Sutton and Bob Uecker, too.

@GuiltyBystander. I goofed. I meant Red Fisher who wrote for the Montreal Gazette and was, perhaps, the preeminent hockey writer in Canada. Ernie Afaganis was a broadcaster who covered the CFL for decades.

Oh, Red FISHER. Yes, I remember him. Rarely got to read his stuff here in the States, however. We were pretty much limited to Stan Fischler’s weekly columns in The Sporting News when it came to hockey writers on a national level.
