Isn’t it great how we imagine things when we read? The Bible says Jonah was swallowed by a big fish. Nowhere is a whale mentioned. I would love to try to track just when people started calling the fish a whale.
BTW, I’m not knocking the comic; I think it’s quite funny. I’m also not knocking picturing things in our minds when we read the Bible. I think it’s helpful to do so. We just have to be careful to not tell others the Bible says things it does not say (ala Benny Hinn and many others).
Yes; somehow the religious think that if they point out that it was a “big fish” instead of a “whale,” that somehow that makes the story more believable.
