@Redkaycei Repoc…until I moved to “the city”, I lived in an area where we could only get dial-up for years and the local paper—a conservative rag—didn’t carry Doonesbury. Had to follow as best I could by random strips…remember Honey at the UN but don’t remember the Nike strips at all :( Much to look forward to!

@rpmurrayReal life. James Garner received 2 Purple Hearts in Korea. Then, he went into acting.

But, but, he was just an actor. We all know all they ever do is read other people’s lines.Well, except for Reagan, Eastwood, Silver, Voigt, and one of the Baldwin brothers. They’re geniuses!

When I was a wee lad in the 60s, my mother would remind me to not hold the cats around the waist but to “support their local bottom.” It was only recently, while watching the James Garner movies, that I caught the reference. She’s been dead ten years, but hey, Mom, I finally got your joke!

BD loses the helmet only after losing his leg! For me his imperfections made him likable. GT does a great job of mixing BD’s “good” and “bad” aspects. Jeff however is 100% despicable.

It does sound like a movie plot line. Garner did use a lot of Korean War references in episodes of the Rockford Files

@livermoronIt was because of the knees he stopped doing “Rockford.”The show took a physical toll on him.He said, there is an entire season of “Rockford” he doesn’t remember because he was so doped up on painkillers.

I missed something, I think. Why are we getting old re-runs of Doonesbury? Is the writer on vacation?
