    Every computer is obsolete by the time you get it out the door. The only non-obsolete computer is breadboarded in a lab somewhere.

    I’m going to go out on a limb here and comment on something I know nothing about. It seems to me that if it does everything you want it to do, it’s not obsolete.

    Given how fast the technology is advancing, it is interesting that the basic computer design (memory, processing unit, input and output peripherals) has not changed in at least 60 years, and more like from the origins of the design in the 1800s. Is it really the best way to do things??

    @Joe Allen Doty, because computers are, by definition, Chaotic Systems, and because they are always changing and being updated, and because no two are ever exactly identical, it would be impossible to get them perfect.

    the slide rule was used for space travel, but so were computers, unfortunately the computers from back then were about the size of my apartment
