Some places aren’t accepting any checks. Soon it will be plastic. All transactions will be done via your phone or ‘personal terminal.’

My wiMy wife is a check writer. She doesn’t like to carry a lot of cash and hasn’t quite caught on to using the credit card at the supermarket (I think she takes pride from the money coming out of her account).

It doesn’t take that long to process a check anymore, they run it though the machine and it is instantly charged to your account. Some check processing machines fill everything out for you, so it’s not much slower than signing off on a debit card.

As for checks being “safe” currency: it’s obviously safer than cash, almost anyone can use your credit card either on line or at the gas pump; but who knows how to fill out a check anymore?

I don’t mind the checks – what I hate is when a woman waits until the entire transaction is done, and THEN starts rummaging through her large purse looking for her checkbook, and THEN, once she finds it, starts to fill out the check and associated check stub as well as figuring out the current balance and THEN giving the clerk the check.God bless ATM/Debit cards.
