Those people wouldn’t know Homestyle or homemade. They eat too fast for the taste to register. Pumpkin pie or berry pie, it all tastes the same with a huge slab of ice cream on it. dang, now I’m hungry for pie…
Well, you can also buy food that’s called “home made.” In fact, “Homade” and “Homaid” are brand names, too.
I’ve always wondered where a certain mysterious “Grandma” lives, whose home kitchen can produce thousands of loaves of zucchini bread a day…and why her pantry contains 20 gallon drums of mono- and di-glycerides, soy lecithin, calcium propionate, and the like.
A nearby chain supermarket sells hot, “home made meatloaf” in a plastic container in the deli section .. not too bad, though pretty commercial tasting.
I asked the woman at the counter whether “home made” meant the undoubtedly pre-mixed loaf was at least baked fresh in each store… but no… and she didn’t know even what state it was made in.
On the other hand, I’m sure it’s closer to home made than Joy’s famous lasagne.
………“homestyle” is when it “don’t taste like store-bought at all; tastes like ya baked it yourself”, as the guy in the Pepperidge Farm cookie commercials used to say……simple. But these yahoos would take anything and run it down their Moron’s Mile just to fritter away more valuable time. Sheesh!!
Home-style means it is trenched in some kind of lard based cheese sauce or gravy. Store bought homemade means it is very high in saturated fat and requires minimal chewing. Either case less than 10% is fruit, vegetable or meat of any identifiable kind. Both are equally great sources of empty calories, a staple at the Penny household. .The caution is; look out for those number of servings in the box, that is real tricky, they are usually mislabeled by a factor of 2 or more, that is a package labeled to serve 4 will not be enough for 2 Penny’s. So if Dale Marlene Jer and Verl are over, they may need about 12 servings
Just got home from hospital. Surgery went well and Jenny is OK, although in a great deal of pain. Thank God for morphine! She is bolted solid from L3 through L5 but they couldn’t safely get to the problems at S1 because of a large bone overgrowth. Surgeon couldn’t see the nerves underneath so he chose not to take the chance of damaging them by cutting blind. We’ll see. Thanks for all your prayers and good wishes, they worked.

HomeStyle is the stuff they sell you in the store. Homemade is the stuff that make you want to buy something in the store.
