Well, I’m pretty fluent in Basic and Pascal. I know a little DOS, Cobal and assembly language. Wished C came around before I left college. (Oops. Now everyone has an idea how old I am.)
My first computer program was written in FORTRAN II … on punch cards .. on a computer we used to heat the engineering building … 16K of ferrite core!
The problem is that kids know how to use a computer, but have no idea how they really work.
I sent my first email back in the mid 1980’s when you had to specify the path through the various servers. We’d download our mail 4 times a day!
Based on the interview I had last week, he’d always be employed, especially the more computer languages in which he was fluent.
What’s really scary is I know what this means.
