So Joanie is 79 now?Of course, we never see the same characters from the same timeline in any strip. Most strips show us the next universe over each episode, where things happen slightly different at a slightly different time.

Joanie is now younger than 79. A few years ago, I asked about the ages of the characters. They didn’t start aging in real time until the early 80s. The event that prompted my question was Boopsie’s age being something in the 80s or 90s that would have made her about 12 or so when BD started dating her.

“How old are you, Miz Bell?”“How old do I look?”“I dunno, a hundred?”“From now on, I’ll just answer since the kids think I’m ancient anyway.”(I think she was in her early thirties at the time.)
