Are we going to drag this out until November?

I sure do enjoy the slow, relaxed pace of these positive slices of life with universal themes and commonplace situations.

The storyline was to go seven weeks in all.

And if you have a problem with focusing on the American soldier and his contributions, JDG, then there’ll be a lot of us who don’t much care for what you think. The men and women whom this strip is focusing on right now are the reason you don’t salute a swastika flag. If honoring them bothers you that much, there are plenty of other comics on this site you can follow instead.

I’m content to let Jim Scancarelli tell me the story he wants to tell, the way he wants to tell it.

I never have a problem with the pace as long as Skeezix is in it. That Slim and the meteorite arc, on the other hand…

If you want a story with a fact pace, watch a television sitcom!

Comics are an historical art form that allow the story to develop slowly; the medium also relies on the reader’s imagination to provide an additional dimension.

Unfortunately with the advent of more passive and instant media there are some impatient readers out there who don’t understand.

Really ravenswing, I didn’t see anything in JDG’s comment about men and women in uniform. I think you are making a giant leap in logic and jumping down JDG’s throat for no reason.

It doesn’t seem to matter what kind of thread this strip is running, people complain about it and want it over with already. I admit it would be nice if it was faster paced but Mr. Scancarelli is doing it at his own pace.

Some people want a comic strijp to go at warp speed the same way they probably drive. Go like a bat out of hell and miss all the beautiful scenery. I, for one, happen to enjoy this movie. For the rest in the theatre who might not, quit your belly aching and go take in another movie. You’re spoiling all the fun for the rest of us. Nuff said.

At least this storyline isn’t yet as long as the Gertie/Byrd story line we had to endure last year, at least this one involves good ol’ GA characterws we have known and loved over the years . This story line must be near and dear to Mr. Scancarelli’s heart and he wants us all to respect and salute the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country that gave JDG and others the right to bleeep and moan about slow moving story lines in the comic strips.

No, JDG didn’t specifically diss our armed forces. He just dissed a plot arc honoring them. My father wore the uniform, three of my uncles wore the uniform, my brother did, I did, my father-in-law did, HIS father did and two other of his sons did. I am exactly as “light” about this as I intend to be.

I didn’t either, and I don’t see where JDG identifies his or her gender, which ravenswing is also assuming.

Ravenswing: Joe did not disrespect anything. He mentioned that the chevron pattern is wrong, which it is. He’s a veteran himself and as such I honor him and his contribution to our nation’s security.

as a wounded war vet you all should be thankful for the services to this nation and all it’s peoples.

Impersonating a soldier is a pretty serious offense, there are people doing hard time for it. That’s one reason why it’s against the law to sell new uniforms to civilians. There are alot of folks out there impersonating Viet-Nam Vets, and if it gets pushed they could get time in a Federal prison for it.

Yeah, all are service academy grads. Sure does make the selection process much easier when Daddy knows all the Senators and they want to do a favor for the boy. Who is going to turn down General Eisenhower’s son to West Point? No one. Ike Jr., a good man on his own, didn’t get his pedigree from the service academy. He got it from his Daddy, just like all the other Generals who are sons of Generals I listed yesterday. It sure is nice to have an automatic ‘in’ on the service academy pedigree.

I lost a brother in the army, and my father graduated from the Naval Academy. I don’t see any reason for Ravenswing to get all worked up over nothing………

Hey Axe! Yeah, we had a touch of snow here in the Bluegrass state and it’s shut everything down. These fragile southern flowers apparently don’t know how to deal with a touch of snow. So 2-3 inches (in some areas more, granted) and some drifting have closed school three days this week, probably Friday as well. I tried to show my neighbors how a snow-shovel worked and they wanted to know how to start it. Some of our backwoods neighbors won’t be able to get out until next week, most likely. But it gives me plenty of time to catch up on my sitting around!

Hey Dypak, We are used to the blizzards up north, so there’s a lot of machinery ready to push it all off the roads. Very rarely would even a foot of snow overnight not be under control by that afternoon, yet we still panic-buy milk and bread as if we’ll be snowed in for a week. We have a much-hyped storm today that so far has been a complete dud! Can’t complain about that, though you wonder how the weathermen missed so badly. Enjoy!
