Satchel Pooch: This breed is prized for its intelligence and strength and counts Rin Tin Tin among its brethren. Bucky Katt: French border sieve! Ummm... polish tank dodger! Rob Wilco: Wasn't Rin Tin Tin a German Shepherd? Satchel Pooch: Ooo, I'm sorry, something of a trick question there, we were looking for the alsatain alsatian. Can’t stop chuckling at French Border Sieve. Why did the French plant trees along the Champs Elysee? So the Germans could march in the shade.

The name of the Deustcher Schaferhund (literally, German Shepherd Dog) was changed in 1917 to avoid the “German” reference. Otherwise, it’s the same dog, and it’s origin is NOT from the Alsace region.Rob should get the point.

Alsatian is a handy term to put on your insurance applications, though. They were going to charge me extra on my home owner’s insurance for having two German Shepherds, but my two Alsatians didn’t bother them at all.
