I just ignore them all in favor of comic strips online. Much more consistently funny, and I can add my own input here if I want to.

the networks just need to go in a NEW direction for after news tv watching.

@pearlandpeach, I agree with you 100%! Ferguson is the funniest on TV, BY FAR. We DVR him and watch him over dinner the next day. Never fails to have us ROFLAO before long. Someday Fallon may be a close second, but not yet.

fedbuhl, I think you’ve got it right now. Personally, I believe Leno could have made it in primetime if he had been on one evening a week. The people who watch late night type shows are a special breed and it doesn’t carry over to primetime.

Creniere, well put. There is very little that is more entertaining than a good book. Christopher Moore, Carl Hiaasen, Nevada bar, Robert Crais, G.M. Ford, Christopher Buckley, Tom Robbins, Kurt Vonnegut, etc….

Carson was OK, Steverino (Allen) was the absolute BOMB, but Ernie Kovacs was the originator of so many things, it’s just not a fair competition.

Other than ESPN, TCM, TWC or CBS during pro football, Syracuse basketball or March Madness, the ONLY show I watch (off DVR or DVD) is SyFy’s “Eureka”. Otherwise, the last primetime show I watched ANY part of was the 1st episode of “Cheers”, plus I DID watch the last Johnny Carson Show (w/ Bette Midler)…my nieces say I’m “weird”…

Hey there is the THOUGHT, a net work that shows Johnny Carson, Steve Allen, Jack Parr on alternating nights, using the guest hosts to fill in the other nights. Maybe we should pitch that to Oprah and her new network………..
