Mike: You know, I think the tablet might be a game-changer. This is how newspapers can thrive! Kim: Cool. Shall I cancel our print subscription? Mike: No, no, don't do that. Kim: Why not? Mike: I guess I'm not quite there yet. I love my paper. It... it... I dunno... Kim: Speaks to you? Newspaper: Extry, extry! Read all about it! Mike: Yeah, sort of.

Before he passed away, Herv’e Villechaise ( “Tatoo” from the old “Fantasy Island” TV series) set up a charity that provided hotel rooms for “little people” from coast to coast that were provided gratis to them when they traveled. They were known as…………wait for it…………………..stay free mini-pads. There’s gotta be a way to tie iPad into this old joke but it’s just beyond my grasp. As most things are!

I don’t know about the “stay free” part, but since iPads are just big iPod Touches, that would make the Touches “mini-pads.” Hey, it’s a start.

Reminds me of a product introduced by a well-known Japanese electronics manufacturer back in the 80s. It was a combined Telephone Answering Machine and FAX called - TAMFAX. Nothing is new…

Apparently at least two other companies have already trademarked “ipad” for their products. The negotiations should be interesting…

I really like reading the newspaper. However, the publishers and editors have had to make such drastic changes to save money (i.e.: less content, more ads) that it’s not the same paper as it was 6 years ago. Every time our subscription runs out, we have a hard decision to make to renew.

i’ve been reading a newspaper with my morning coffee for over 60 years.my son says to cancel the paper and read the same stuff (more up to date ) on my computer. i told him after 60 years i really need that paper and feel it in my hands.besides if every one did that there would be no papers and it scares the hell out of me to think that day may come

i just recently let my “one day a week” newspaper subscription lapse. it’s only been one week since they actually stopped delivering it (took them long enough), but i may yet find myself going through “withdrawal” symptoms. as for the iPad, my brother says it should be thought of as an “iPod for seniors” - re larger sized icons, etc.

They’re getting closer, I used to say you can’t take a desktop model to the throneroom in the morning. Now if it could just substitute in case of a TP shortage.

True, I can’t comfortably read my IPad on the terlet bowl. But that inconvenience is small when compared to the benefit of not destroying a hundred acres of trees every week

How much is Trudeau getting paid to keep cartooning about these IPads???

It’s gonna be awful expensive to line the bottoms of my parrots cages with those iPads…I have six parrots…times how many iPads? Whooo…I’ll stick with newspaper, maybe the Wall Street Journal…

Newspaper production doesn’t destroy a hundred acres of trees every week. That’s ridiculous propaganda. You never heard of replanting trees? They cut down the ones they planted several years before, plant more, and use the same land over and over again. In fact the whole recycling business is economically wasteful and harms the environment far more in terms of pollutants than if it was buried in one carefully managed landfill.
