If Marlene doesn’t admit to it, it can’t be proved! I thought that was a guy trick.

What a lovely couple in Stel Bel’s Oklahounda poster. All decked out in their Sunday “go to meetin’” best. She looking demure, yet vivacious; he rugged, handsome and gentledogly. You just don’t see films like that at the bassetplex any more.

    Welcome, everybody…

Liverlips and Tigressy are both referring, of course, to the

    February 6th, 2020 “Cleo and Company”…

Which features yet another lovely poster from StelBel…

This time for “Oklahounda” … currently back for a revival run at the BassetplexII.

Just looking at it makes the music start playing in my head..

My family played the album so much we wore out the 78’s and replaced them with one of them new-fangled LPs.

I think the 78s were the stage show cast… I was pretty young, but I remember a booming baritone that wasn’t Gordy McHound.

    I loved it all, though.

By the time I was 8 or 9 I probably knew the words to every song.

Just be glad you didn’t have to hear me try to sing them!

Ohh… And Charlotte Greenbone. Aka Aunt Eller.

I LOVE to watch her dance!

Not my favorite, musical, but the 1937 version of Showboat with Irene Dunne was.

Oaklahounda was a very good musical. Sadly though, it didn’t win an Oscar. It should have, but it didn’t. :-(

Good morning Balladeers and Plods, Miss Susan and Stel.

I just love Gordy and Shirley together! Especially when they sing in their surrey. Do you think the fringe on top adds to the sound?
