LHP, a “Plugger” is a person who makes do with what he has. I fit the description these days, as do many others trying to make barely sufficient pay stretch from one end of the month to the other.
Brookins seems to use a little definition of “plugger”, e.g. his recent “beard is whiter than teeth”. That is, plugger = survivor of some form of commonly confronted, homespun adversity. I don’t think he’d do a plugger is someone taking care of an elder parent with dementia.
