Probably submitted, as dogs often do, flat on his back, belly up. I once saw my wife’s Schnauzer do that, then jump up and bite the other dog, then return to the submission pose. The other dog got so confused after a couple of unexpected bites, he just walked away. It’s the only time I saw a dog cheat at a dog fight.
