Go for either one pre-1965. The silver content would probably be worth a buck or two.

(How many people even remember Mercury dimes any more? Or standing liberty quarters? Or buffalo nickels? Or half dollars of any design. D–n, I’m getting old!)

I’m with you PS, as they say if I had known I was going to last this long, I’d have tried to take better care of myself, and I would have saved some of those ‘old’ coins. :-)

pschearer, I do remember Mercury dimes, indian head /buffalo nickels, the Liberty and Franklin half-dollar coins, and the old pre-1959 Lincoln wheat penny.

When you mentioned the standing liberty quarter though, I couldn’t remember, so I looked it up. No, I don’t remember that one at all.

I do remember when silver dollars were pretty abundant, and kids would show them off when they got one. There was also a lot of Confederate money going around, but I don’t know if any of that was genuine.

They brought back the buffalo for the Lewis & Clark anniversary, but not the indian head. I miss the Franklin half.

After all these decades, Two-Face is still flipping a silver dollar; if he took it to a collector, he might not have to rob banks anymore.
