Sarah! I can't find that jar-opening clampy thingy... Did you look in the kitchen drawer? Yes! The junk drawer or the gizmo drawer? Both! Not... Not at the same time? Yes. Well, they're cross-breeding now. We'll have to have a yard sale.
I like Douglas Adams’ story about the life cycle of ratchet screwdrivers. They’re bought, used once, placed in a drawer for a while where they morph into the next phase of their lifecycle as an unidentifiable plastic thing with a wire and a flange at one end
You never, never, EVER put the gizmo drawer and junk drawer in the same room!.my clampie thing doesn’t work for me. I use a piece of rubber (circle) with ridges. Or turn the jar upside down, and give it a few sharp knocks on the bottom with the blunt end of a knife.

At that point your best bet is a trash bag. Most of the stuff that turns up in those drawers isn’t worth the effort to sell.

I have two jar-opening clampy thingies: one at the end of each arm.

Prying up with a bottle opener until the button pops up works good too.

Imagine the monsters that could come out of a cross-breeding like that …
Good one.
