I totally agree with that. My local station asks 4 questions before it will let me pump the gas. 1) Credit or Debit, 2) put in your PIN or push no (always push no), 3) enter your zip code and push enter (which I recommend instead of a PIN), 4) do you want a receipt?, and in some places 5) do you want a car wash. THEN you get to gas up. lol

Hear, hear! It gets me so confused that I sometimes forget to replace the gas cap.

Folks, if this is the most you have to complain about in your lives, you should be very grateful. But don’t let me stand in the way of your kvetching.

Remember when you just told the attendant what you wanted? And they checked your oil and cleaned your windshield? Remember when customer service was important?

And, of course, you’ve got to stand in line behind ‘quickie-mart people’ before you actually GET to ‘see attendant,’ explain your life to her, try to remember the pump you’re stuck at, while the person in the car behind you is thinking you’re in there buying beer and potato chips, wasting THEIR valuable time. Yas, a part of my wasted youth was pumping gas, checking oil,and washing windshields.. Built character and teen-age muscles, plus a strong desire to get away from THIS dam town !!

I remember, as a 7-10-year-old boy, visiting my grandpa and “helping” at his gas station. A big truck would pull in and I’d crawl up onto the hood to clean the windshield, then climb down. Looking back, I wonder how many dents I left and how many mirrors had to be reset.
As for Costco, it and I have different ZIP codes, so the security thing probably would work. For a truly local station, though, it seems pretty pointless.
