A German was telling me today that the Germans are being criticized for having worked out how to operate as a unified team that can execute successful maneuvers again and again. It seems this damages the implicit feeling of much of the world that soccer is a random and unpredictable game, which seems to fit their view of the universe as random and unpredictable.
