Oompa was a term used to describe a tuba sound, i.e., oompa bands. They are German music bands that feature a tuba player. Opa was a term for grandpa. Oma was for grandma.

Great uniforms Agnes made. I’m quite impressed! Not to worry about the tuba — it’ll be too loud on parade day for anyone to notice anyway.
