We have a common account for all household spendings, and ‘together’ outings, the rest comes out of our own pocket. Clothes, coffee, books, take out… No money left in our pocket, that’s our problem. Much easier that way.
If you’re able to pay the bills every month with the bank account staying roughly even (give or take a $100 or so) Then you’re ok. But it does mean you’re spending the entire pay cheque. And that’s not good.
