From TV: The national pork board would like to remind you self-righteous, holier-than-thou, beef-eatin' snobs that there's never been a single case of "mad pig" disease. Pork: The other white meat, bee-yotch!
I myself am old enough to remember a time when pork tasted like pork, before they bred all the flavor out so we could âlean on porkâ. And I lament its loss (while still eating much pork, as it is still kinda awright).
While itâs not âMad Cowâ disease TrichinosisÂč ainât no fun neither.
Â
Âč Trichinosis is infection caused by the roundworm Trichinella spiralis or another Trichinella species. Symptoms include diarrhea, abdominal cramps, muscle pain, and fever. People acquire the infection by eating raw or undercooked contaminated meat.
As I recall, back in the â50s a person was quite likely the get it from raw/under cooked pork.
