Has Captain Kangroo (a great show by the way) been on the air anywhere in the past 15 years?

We actually had some green children’s records, 78rpm, with songs about a character named Lil’ ”Orley, They were recorded by Lumpy Greene, who my mom said was the actor who played Mr Greenjeans.

There was a Jeoprady question once which asked:

Who was the villan in the tom terrific cartoons?

    I know. Do you remember?

I never did watch Captain Kangaroo… or Mr Rogers. I preferred The Addams Family and the Munsters.

Burgundy2 I remember The Friendly Giant and Mr. Dressup. But then I’m a Canadian, too.

as a fellow Canadian, so do i. i always loved the song “early one morning” which he played as the theme, and was surprised to find there were lyrics to it when i started school and had music class.

@ellisaana: thanks to google and wiki I do. Couldn’t remember and had to go look it up. That’s what age will do for you.

I had a crush on Captain Kangaroo. And also the Friendly Giant. I was fickle, I guess.

But I didn’t appreciate Mr. Dressup until I was in my teens. Go figure.

I think I liked the Friendly Giant for his music. Anyone remember which show played “A Mighty Fortress is our God?” I’m fuzzy on the details.
