Seriously, just giving a cat a pill is such a violation of trust and personal space that brushing their teeth is best left to professionals. While some cats do have dental problems, access to kibble and grass to chew is all most of them need, with a very occasional cleaning as they get older. Seriously, over-frequent professional teeth cleaning suggestions is one of the hallmarks of a “cash register” oriented veterinary practice.

I would never even contemplate brushing my cat’s teeth. If they they get used to the idea when they are kittens it may be acceptable to a docile cat.

When the hiss is accompanied by a fluffed-up tail, watch out.

Go to a Renaissance Faire and pick up some chain mail cloves.

I would take my cat to the vet on the rare occasion he needed his teeth cleaned.
