Just to be clear, this strip was originally published six years before Dark Knight came out… Not that it’s that original a sentiment.

In the high school where I sometimes work, I see lots of young guys sporting various appliances to help them walk after their latest soccer/football/whatever injury, and wearing shirts (apparently provided by the athletic program) that read, “pain is weakness leaving the body.” No, sir, pain is the body informing you that these tendons, joints and muscles have sustained damage, and in another thirty or forty years (when you are no longer the coach’s responsibility) it’s gonna suck to be you.

Llew needs to write these words of wisdom down. I’d buy the book.

Dragon and the George puts the dragon kill in perspective.. You have one shot at puncturing one by putting all the acceleration and body weight onto a spearpoint, or you have immolation a moment later. .Dragon has got the same chance as bull in a ring.

Humoring the philosopher, (s)he may be correct. If we are shaped by our experiences and we have different experiences and react differently to those experiences then we become more different or strange compared to the norm or usual. The more profound the experience the more strange we become. Some who have suffered some of humanity’s most profound experiences have become so strange as to not be able to function in society.I also know that those who survive and can or are allow to adjust gain an inner strength and humor in knowing that they have survived worse.

Sloths are not killing me. Are sloths making me stranger, or stronger?

A classic! I’ll never be able to hear the original quote without thinking about this strip!
