In a late ‘60s Dennis the Menace comic book, Mr. Wilson mail-ordered some ladybugs to take care of the aphids in his garden. He figured $10 worth should be enough. They arrived dormant, so he set them in the sun to wake up, then went inside to read the instructions. It was while he was reading the word “acres” that they woke up and Dennis opened the bag they came in. With Mr. Wilson’s blessing Dennis captured most of the swarm and sold them to the other neighbors.
