I see these sorts of situations as times to sit and relax. As an MD I also think about what I can do to render aid if needed. Only time I ever had to do that was at the scene where a dog was hit by a car. The doggo made it through.
We were stuck once for three hours. When we saw the helicopter land we shut up, switched off the engine and sat on the grass on the side to wait it out, glad that it wasn’t us. Funny how that helo shut up everyone (in France they are used only for the really, really bad accidents). Suddenly those hours of waiting were not important at all. Thank you, Ruthie, for thinking about the victims.

My husband turns into a snarling jerk when we’re stuck in traffic. Unfortunately, he’s an atheist.

To quote a sermon I heard recently: “Sometimes he calms the storm; sometimes he calms you.”

Disgusting display of child abuse. Teaching a child to pray to a fictional character or suffer eternal damnation is child abuse.

That’s a good way to keep the situation in perspective. God willing, I will make it home safe tonight. Others will not.
