When I was in kindergarten, a boy named David took a shine to me. Heâd tell me he was coming over, weâd find him sitting on my front steps, and Iâd invite him inside and weâd play. I didnât see him during the following summer, and when first grade started, I eagerly ran up to him and said something like, âHi, David!âHe looked right through me. I knew right away what was going on, and learned early about the fickleness of love. Never had any real âboy friendsâ after that till university years.
You let that very first girl into your life, and you are setting yourself up for a lifetime of female relationship troubles. A lifetime of off and on misery and whining. My observations of watching my sons over the many years, try and cope with their females.
Something else Iâve noticed; as Winston Churchill (of the US and Brits â but it works for Canadians as well) said âtwo great peoples separated by a common languageâ â besides the reversed âerâ, superfluous âuâ, and âs/câ substitutions â now we have âGrade Fiveâ vs. âFifth Gradeâ.
I was also lucky enough not to even consider dating till college, which made life much simpler. However, I will be clueless if and when my kids date before that point.
Honestly, I think most of us are at least partially crazy, so itâs just a matter of finding a crazy with which weâre compatible. As it is, Iâm compatible with most types of male crazy, but not the evil, refusal-to-communicate, angry, oh-so-logical type (hint, itâs not real logic, youâre just showing how you feel superior to your friends and yes, that is a problem)
I had crushes on various girls since the first grade. Didnât know why I felt that way, I just did. Felt good to be around them. It wasnât til the 6th grade that I actually started âfeeling ways about stuffâ. LOL!

Isnât Deanna a blonde? And I donât remember her throwing herself at him like thisâŠ.. I think this is some other girl in his class, not THE girl.

Yes: I remember budding 5th grade attractions. How awkward!

In my own experience this is right on target, if not a bit late.

Fifth grade is hard for a lot of kids, itâs the point when they have to really try.

Why is it that they are attracted to those âcloset casesâ in the first place?
