âI never heard of making an appointment with a Physicianâs Assistantâ
What pla-..? Oh, never mind.
Itâs all too common these days, as davidf42 said. Thereâs also all too good a chance at it getting substantially worse if a certain âreformâ is enacted by the U.S. government.
Whatâs with the âMr. Chipperâ and what the bleep is a âphysicianâs assistant,â anyway, that you have to wait six weeks for an appointment? Theyâre in short supply? Not enough people taking the community college night course diploma?
Why doesnât Gerdo take the old booger to a doctor fer petesakes?
Or better still, the hospital ER. When youâre 110 and not feeling well, itâs probably an emergency.
Not quite âPhysicianâs Assistantâ assist Dr.âs when too busy or not in the office.
Gertie is talking to a medical receptionist who goes by a computer for scheduling. If she used the words emergency they would instruct her call 911.
When I call for an appointment they all say if this is an emergency call 911 first for medical help or go to an emergency room.
In my native country that would be an emergency appointment. If it was an ordinary appointment theyâd emphasize the year too. May this year would be impossible lest You were a âprivately insuredâ patient. But few can afford that.
If Chipper is Waltâs grandson (OR great-grandson?), just tell the receptionist that he should stop in and see Mr. Walt ASAP!
Mr. Walt is so old, that anytime he doesnât feel well- - - he should be allowed a âlast visitâ from any/all of his relatives. It might be the last chance to say goodbye.

Iâm guessing âphysicianâs assistantâ is akin to a ânurse practionerâ.
