I used to have a freezer IN the fridge (a cheap apartment refrigerator) and defrosting that was a major undertaking. Mainly because I let it get bad enough that you couldn’t get anything into the freezer. Defrosting it involved rubber gloves, a hair dryer, a big flat blade screwdriver and a hammer.

I’d get on his case for forcing you to endure a fridge that has to be defrosted. It’s positively ante-diluvian!

The freezer over the fridge is self-defrosting, but defrosting the big upright is a MAJOR undertaking. A day’s work and a messy one.
