If I carried a drink around with me while mowing it would have to be in a reclosable bottle — nothing ruins a good cold drink like a mouthful of dust, clippings, and bugs.
Beer can holders are indeed important on tractors and grass cutters. But, the problem with mine is that my mower shakes and shudders so much that I have to drink at least 3/4 of the beer before I use the holder otherwise it will slosh out. And, only 1/4 of a can of beer doesn’t last very long, so I have to get off the mower and get another one quite frequently.
….and it shakes so much that the beer goes flat, anyway…Cured that problem by parking the beer on the porch in the shade with a cover on top, for it seems flies and wasps like beer, too ! (Pa-TOO !!!)
I think the most creative device was a automotive windshield washer pump with a suction hose placed in your choice of beverage, and a discharge hose in the user’s mouth. Hooked up to the mower’s battery, a simple tap of the button provided the user a refreshing drink..Now, this is Plugger ingenuity…
You are right… not necessarily beer in that can. However, beer is IMHO a more appropriate beverage for mowing as it is better at making the dull task of mowing more enjoyable. :)
Since when do pluggers use a riding mower? Good pluggers use the type one walks behind. The push/pull mower. Even better pluggers use the gas free one: http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1279436&cp=2568443.2568444.2598675.1255125.1260273
After my mom had knee replacement surgery she wanted to go down the street to the mailbox (one of those that has individual boxes with separate keys) so she rode the mower. My nephew was little and wanted to go ,so he rode too. We still laugh about that one :~D

When I mow with a push mower, I just clip my bottle to my belt loop via carabiner.

Since when do pluggers use a riding mower?.I mow both sides of the road for 1/4 mile on each side of my house; so, yes, I use a rider!
