Sure, it’s not pleasant. That’s the point, and the reason you don’t use it unless absolutely necessary. John Pike sure didn’t seem to mind (ab)using it. though.

Gunpowder smells nice, but I’d prefer pepper spray over it.To each his own.

As an officer I was required to be sprayed before I could carry it. We asked why? we didn’t have to get shot to be issued a gun.I never used it on anyone.
