    As I recall Grace Hopper telling it, the first “bug” was a moth found gished in a relay of the Mark I computer at Harvard. Since The Mark I was a Navy project, naturally there was a log, so the moth was taped to a page. Supposedly that page is on display at a naval museum in Annapolis.

    I’m in South Florida. Bugs here 12 months of the year. But what the heck is “gish”? He’s a smart kid. He couldn’t be pronouncing “squish” wrong.

    “Gish” is the prime pluperfect tense of “to goosh”, meaning sto squish into goo.
