Bug Blog by Cuco Rocha Mexican Barbie Critics are attacking Mattel for releasing a "Mexican Barbie" dressed in a Mariachi costume, calling it "cliched" and "dated." I just hope they don't soon update their Mexican doll model with "Cartel Barbie."

Well, there wouldnât be much point in a Mexican barbie dressed in jeans and a t-shirt, possibly with a slightly darker plastic and dark hair. Thatâs just boring, and cliched and dated is cute.

Cliched? Dated? Screw that. The Mariachi dancers are one of my favorite things at the Fiesta de las Golondrinas parade every year.

Wouldnât Cartel Ken be more appropriate? Not that a woman couldnât be a ruthless murderer, peddling poison to school kids. (I believe in the ERA)

SNL did that one about 15 years ago. She came with her own Jolly Ranchers, a pack of Newports, and a restraining order against her boyfriend, Tupac Ken (complete with puffed boxers).

Well, amongst many of the Barbies that I have, is a Polish Barbie and an Irish Barbie; additionally I have two âTeresaâ Barbies who are supposed to be Latina. So where is this ââMariachiââ Barbie coming from???!!! ;)
