Rat: What are you doing, Goat?
Goat; I just finished straightening up the stuff on my desk. I like to have my workspace clean and neat.
Rat: We messy desk folk resent you.
I have several cats. There are no neat stacks of papers on my desk. The floor is my inbox. Maybe I should retaliate and use their litter box for my papers.
Being every bit as obsessive as Goat, I would proceed to string Rat up by his ankles, let him watch while I straightened up everything, and then get mean….
I worked for years with a guy, who would spend the whole day, putting things in a certain position on his desk, pencils arranged just so so, longest first then to the smallest, it been ten years now and every once in a while I go and check his desk…yup still the same
In the movie Man on the Flying Trapeze, W.C. Fields had what appeared to be a mess of papers on his desk, but it was actually a form of organization that worked perfectly for him.:Sometimes chaos is order.
Funny—my desk at work was always clean and neat, and every night before I left, I tidied up. My desk at home is a mess, with piles of papers, books, and items that I am trying to keep out of the reach of my toddler grandsons. I wonder what that means?

I had a supervisor who would put all of the mess from the top of her desk to the empty drawers just to look organized while she was gone.

Two kinds of desks—- high rise and urban sprawl. Rat just made the latter.
