so we can look forward to another week of reading the letter?
I bet on Wednesday Liz will call to tell Tracy the entire department got one too.. err or I could be wrong .
There are lots of exceptions to the “i before e” rule; for example: either, neither, weird (and thus probably weirdo, also), German words used in English, like zeitgeist, and so on.
if you read the book “How to be a lazy cartoonist ” this makes perfect sense.
I quote
” The Monday strip will be the top three panels for the upcoming Sunday strip and will be cut and pasted in along with a picture of the outside of a house or building that seems to be talking and a cut and paste of several other panels from the remaining strips during the week , thus ensuring that no one will actually have to draw a Sunday strip because thats like ya know work.
also to ensure you don’t break a sweat or anything make sure to keep the plot development down to a minimum and never draw the characters feet. use the word weirdo often and throw in a ye Gods at some point.
remember a confused reader is a loyal reader so always drop dangling plots with out resolution, make your characters expand and compress as if they were made of rubber and put minimal detail into important props so it looks as if the character is reading a blank piece of paper or playing a musical instrument strapless and with the wrong number of strings.
Follow these handy tips and you too will be on the road to cartooning success !”
ok now i get it – this once fantastic strip now exists only as a forum for us to vent about how lame it is every day. if gould were alive he’d be rolling in his grave.
Wait … Can Dick believe what he got in the mail? Or not? I don’t understand … I haven’t been told enough times … WHY doesn’t Locher tell us what’s going on ENOUGH TIMES so we can GET IT??????
His tortured script and the scandalous art
That from his fellows set him apart
Where we once cheered and wanted more
Now it is the stuff that makes us snore
We are chided for what we say
Because it is in a negative way
But when you have read the strip for years
By now you can only be reduced to tears
What there is to look forward to
Are the comments of the fractious few.

I thought Tracy read the letter last week and even Chief Liz called him about the letters. I must be imagining things.

This strip is written by
1) two people who don’t talk to each other
2) a schizophrenic

and the rest of the week’s panels will be the wrong guesses , yes, always with the tight closeups, eliminating the need for background art

The word weirdo, derived from weird, is spelled correctly in the comic, Warehouse.
