A properly cooked hot dog has a good amount of almost too burned parts. (Almost too burned — a very tough thing to judge when looking at the fire in the dark).

Hot Dogs absolutely require a little charring but Louie is right, dont flat out burn them!

That reminded me that my kids used to love it when I would cut a slit in a hotdog, stuff it with cheese, roll a piece of almost fully cooked bacon around that, then roll the whole thing in a crescent roll and bake them. served with french fries and baked beans. You know, that sounds good, and I may just have to do that one day this week – lol – must be second childhood time!
